SMC 2017 - Workshop

Au SMC, on n'y va pas seulement pour faire un concours de figurines, mais aussi pour voir de grands peintres et apprendre d'eux. Roman Gruba est l'un d'entre eux.
Avec mes amis, Laurent et Nicolas, nous avons eu la chance de partager avec Roman quelques unes de ses techniques et approches pour faire un visage.

At the SMC, you can particpate to the contest but you can also attend to workshops with great painters, learn from them. Roman Gruba is one of them.
With friends, Laurent and Nicolas, we had the chance to share with Roman some of his technics, approach to paint a face.

A ma gauche, le premier challenger... jusque là, à l'aise...
On my left, first challenger... seems cool so far...

Voici le sujet du workshop. Roman commence les explications...

On commence par les couleurs... classique ou pas pour certains. Le beige rouge sera notre base de départ.
We start with colors... classic or not. Beige red will be our base color.

Roman montre... et nous on essaie...

Bon, ce sont les premières étapes... poser les premières lumières. Pas si facile pour ceux qui ne sont pas habitué.
So, first steps... put the first lights. Not so easy for people who were not used.

Ombres / Shadows

Ensuite, on pousse un peu plus loin mais prenant la précaution de ne pas être précautionneux.
Effectivement, j'ai voulu être trop fin tout de suite et Roman m'a corrigé sur ce point. On lissera plus tard...
Then, we go further but taking the precaution not to be careful.  Indeed, I tryed to be precise right now, but Roman corrected me on this point. We will be more precise after...

Ci-dessous, un succession d'étapes. Pas évident pour moi de travailler sans lisser.
Below, a serie of steps. Not so easy to work without being precise.

Nous avons passé un bon moment avec Roman, accessible et instructif. Le buste choisis n'était pas le meilleur pour cette exercice car on avait envie de faire une peau plus fantastique que réelle.
Je pense que Roman viendra dans notre club pour faire un stage...
We had fun with Roman, accessible and informative. I think the bust was not the good one for this exercice, because we wanted to do a fantasy skin more than a real one.
I hope Roman will come in our club for a workshop...
