Diorama en commun - la construction

Nous inaugurons cette année un projet très ambitieux. Rien de moins qu'un diorama à six mains!

This year we are embarking on a very ambitious project. Nothing less than a diorama with six hands!

La conception

Comme à mon habitude, l'idée germe à partir d'une inspiration... ici une chouette illustration trouvé sur le net.. maison sous la terre, des pierres sur le toit, des arbres et un joli ruisseau... Nous avons tout de suite pensé que des petits halfeling ferait l'affaire. Donc Red box games nous a fourni ca très vite.. avec une belle collection de petits êtres parfaits...

Fredéric est passé par une étape de dessin et l'ambiance a été le premier thème abordé... le passage d'un cadre réconfortant de sa maison, verdoyant, agréable, au départ d'une aventure, le long d'un chemin ou l'avenir est incertain...

As usual, the idea sprouts from an inspiration ... here a nice illustration found on the net .. house under the ground, stones on the roof, trees and a nice stream ... We have immediately thought that small halfeling would do the trick. So Red box games provided that very quickly .. with a nice collection of perfect little beings ...

Frederic went through a stage of drawing and the atmosphere was the first theme addressed ... the passage of a comforting environment of his home, green, pleasant, at the start of an adventure, along a path or the future is uncertain ...

Nous voulions par la construction permettre cette histoire, la faire comprendre... mais utiliser les couleurs ensuite pour dégager les 2 sentiments selon l'endroit dans le diorama... maison = verdoyant chemin et forêt = aventure

Les arbres de la forêt devront former un mouvement, leur branche allant vers la maison, pour essayer de "fermer" la vue dans ce diorama. Il est toujours mieux que l’œil vagabonde en restant dans un cadre que l'on défini (pareil en peinture sur toile, illustration etc..) donc des arbres tourné vers la maison fera en sorte que l’œil ne courre pas le long du chemin pour sortir de la scène trop tôt ;)

Donc le postulat est le suivant, une progression, de la maison vers la forêt ou l'ombre prendra la place de la lumière.... les figurines progresseront donc sur cette trame.. enfin nous l'espérons.

We wanted by the construction to allow this story, to make it understood ... but to use the colors then to release the 2 feelings according to the place in the diorama ... house = verdant path and forest = adventure

The trees of the forest will have to form a movement, their branch going towards the house, to try to "close" the view in this diorama. It is always better than the wandering eye by staying in a setting that is defined (same painting on canvas, illustration etc. ..) So trees turned towards the house will ensure that the eye does not run along the way out of the scene too early;)

So the postulate is the following, a progression, from the house to the forest where the shadow will take the place of the light .... the figurines will therefore progress on this frame .. finally we hope.

Comme souvent pour ce type de projet, nous avons demandé à notre ami Aurélien de nous préparer une impression 3D. Il s'agit d'une structure en dépose fil, au diamètre voulu et présentant un premier aperçu grossier des volumes.

Une fois ce précieux trésor en main, je le fixe sur notre socle en bois. Colle ET vis, ça ne rigole pas!

As often for this kind of project, we asked our friend Aurélien to prepare a 3D printing. This is a wire deposit structure, the desired diameter and having a rough first overview of volumes.

Once this precious treasure in hand, I fix it on our wooden base. Glue AND screw, I'm not here to joke!

Le lendemain m'attend une phase délicate. Afin de garantir un état de finition maximal, je colle une feuille de carte plastique sur la structure. Il faut de la colle epoxy, très adhérente. Idéalement, je prend de la carte d'épaisseur 1mm, mais ici la forme circulaire m'oblige à prendre de la carte plus fine, donc plus délicate à manipuler; Faut pas casser!

The next day awaits me a delicate phase. In order to guarantee a maximum state of completion, I glue a plastic card sheet on the structure. It needs epoxy glue, very adherent. Ideally, I take the map of thickness 1mm, but here the circular form forces me to take the map finer, therefore more delicate to handle; Do not break!

Quelques jours plus tard, les volumes sont déjà là! Rien de sorcier, il suffit de tailler des gros volumes dans du polystyrène en suivant le plan! Une partie très fun!

A few days later, the volumes are already there! Nothing wizard, just cut large volumes in polystyrene following the plan! A very fun part!

Préparation de la porte en carte plastique et green stuff

Puis intégration de ladite porte dans la façade que j'ai choisi de préparer à part pour plus de facilité.

Then integration of said door in the facade that I chose to prepare separately for ease.

Maintenant il s'agit de combler tout çà, avec de la pâte de la roche etc... lisser les chemins, préparer le positionnement des arbres...

Now it is a question of filling everything here, with the dough of the rock etc ... to smooth the paths, to prepare the positioning of the trees ...

Puis au fur et à mesure, j'ai pu placer les arbres, d'abords de manière rapide, en utilisant comme source des branches d'arbuste morts de mon jardin, ainsi que des racines


Then, as I went along, I was able to place the trees, first of all in a quick way, using as raw material, dead branches of shrubs from my garden, as well as roots

Mais selon les conseils avisé de mes petits amis... un second arbre en arrière plan est ajouté, pour donner plus de densité.

But according to the wise advice of my friends... a second tree in the background is added, to give more density.

Bien mieux comme ca... mais il reste du détaillage a faire.. vous avez déjà remarqué le petit pont, fabriqué à partir d'une charette balsa.

Much better like that... but there is still some detail to be done... you have already noticed the small bridge, made from a balsa cart.

 

J'ai donc fait un chemin pavé, en collant des pavé fait main en milliput. Puis j'ai comblé les trous avec une pate Tamya putty. 

So I made a paved path, gluing handmade stones in milliput. Then I filled the gaps with a Tamya putty paste. 

 La porte devait être plus travaillée, donc en photodécoupe, j'ai ajouté des ferroneries, et fabriqué des charnière que je collerai une fois la porte finie et peinte.

The door had to be more complex, so, with photoetched, I added ironwork, and made hinges that I will glue once the door is finished and painted.

Comme j'aime ajouter des petites surprises, j'ai crée une petite mangrove seche ou un petit animal pourra se cacher entre les racines.

As I like to add little surprises, I have created a small dry mangrove where a small animal can hide between the roots.

J'ai aussi enrichi un peu les arbres... en effet les branches ou racines trouvées dans la nature ne sont jamais parfaites pour un diorama, donc j'ai découpé, collé, ajouté des morceaux de branches pour que ca me paraissent plus agréable à l'oeil, en gardant l'orientation des branches vers la gauche comme nous le voulions au départ.

I have also enriched the trees a little... indeed the branches or roots found in nature are never perfect for a diorama, so I cut, glued, added pieces of branches so that it seems more pleasant visually, keeping the orientation of the branches to the left as we wanted at the beginning.
