Feedback of the seminar day in which Chestnut Ink participated. Here are the participants' comments!

Michael Kontraros "Creating Unique Bases"

Raphaël :
Le maître sculpteur est là ! Ah quel bonheur !

Master sculptor is there! Ah happiness! And good memories.
Honestly, I waited for many of this workshop. I was always a big fan of the bases of Kontraros and his sculptures. Then yes, I was impatient, and I also wanted to pass besides the morning workshop which had really disappointed me.

Prepared base, plasticine available, we are welcomed well, Kontraros can begin its speach. He explains us that we are going to create an effective base quickly.

Undeterred, we set off the putty in which we engrave, with a spatula, more or less random forms to feign a rocky ground (or other). In reality, it is about a mold inverted by our futur base. When ready, we sink a kind of dough (that I would call Nutella, because she has the same texture) whose smell is simply horrible.

After few minutes, the dough  is solid et we have our ground. No need to glue it, only put more Nutella on your base and ... magic !

Mister Kontraros!

Merci Michael !!!

A very impressive technique! I have to admit that I was fooled by the efficiency, especially as I hate spending too much time on my bases... Thanks Michael !!!

Johann :

As my friends, I was impressed by the efficiency and the simplicity. And Michael paid a lot of attention on our realizations.

Résultat par Raph !

Jean Bernard André "One day Diorama"

We could call it : THE BOSS of diorama and moreover water...
I had the privilege to attend this training, focused on water modeling techniques, ocean, beaches ...
For those who don't know the guy

We tried to start a particular technique... molding resin waves, more or less disturbed. Principle is awesome, starting from clay to form the shape, then molding the clay with silicon, and finally pouring resin ... simultaneously easy and complex... by the way I discovered that documentation is needed... waves are random but organized, .... natural but logical.

One thing, modeling water .... stinks ! What an horrible smell this resin ! Not chosen for it smell but for its capacity to cure in 20 min... too dangerous to reuse at home, however JBA recommends to use of epoxy resin... by the way, a big up to Jean for finding techniques and products allowing us to finalize water modeling in a day.

example of what I got...

a good test to do it again now ;)

nice example of large waves...

Really super cool, I can't wait to do it again at home. Jean is obviosuly a passionate teacher. His attitude and excitment are visible when he teaches. a real joy...
Our brain has been misty by resin fumes, but the joy and pleasure taken was not hallucinatory ;) Huge thanks Jean !

Jay Laverty "Metal Magic"

My morning was fofuses on Jay Lavertry workshop: metal magic with airbrush paint Alclid II. This products have been developped for aircraft miniatures... so what's this noob with his Dark Angel motorcycle....??? I was so puzzled :

Oui, des aviooooons, certes...

Ueah, aircraft, no probs dude.

Jay was a very good teacher and explaned me how to correctly use the airbrush. I have been very impressed by this technical; polishing + metalics, amazing results!

Then we had in mind to try the method on the motorcycle. Well there is still a lot of work...

At the end of the workshop, lots of new ideas, lots of resolved issues, and lots of gifts from Alcald, thanks a lot to them!

Christos Panagiotou "Painting Freehand Heraldry"

Johann :

I looked forward to start with this workshop day and to see Christos, one of the guests, for teaching his technics. But I was disapointed.

Go !". Enfin, comme Johann, vous connaissez la suite.

Ah freehands. What I love and hate at the same time. When I first looked up for the workshops I was thinking "Waow Panagotiou does a freehand's workshop ! Let's go for it !". Thanks to Johann, you already know what is next.

Johann :

Regarding supplies, nothing, except a copy of picture and some paint colors for student who haven't. No shield or other stuff to draw on it, no documentation about the steps.

Début de peinture et photocopie à disposition

Après 1h30...

Fin de l'atelier... déçu...
Johann :

Disappointed, I learned nothing in this seminar. Nothing that I already knew. They could preventing us that it was for beginners. And even if it was for beginners, Seen the lack of enthusiasm and pedagogy, I do not recommend him as teacher.

Conclusion :

Such even principle, with workshop on saturday and sunday contest, is a real success. SMC is organized rigourously, the workshop planned are various, with different levels and accessible.
A big thanks to the Crombeecke family for this perfect organization.
